Greetings From Down Under!!!

Well, I have successfully made it to Melbourne and Monash University! After spending a total of over 20 hours on an airplane, you can bet I was pretty glad to finally be on the ground. The flight went surprisingly well, most likely thanks to Kelli's leg exercises. It doesn't happen very often, but for times like this, it pays to have a sister specializing in physical therapy for the old people! Each seat on the plane came with its own TV, so I kept myself plenty busy with movies, and good old American TV. The only bad part about the flight was I didn't sleep nearly as much as I should have, so by the time we got into Melbourne, I was extremely tired.
Once we got into Melbourne, Zack (the other UW student who I met up with in LA) and I had to find the bus to Monash. This was extremely easy because the airport had a welcome desk for international students who showed us how to get money and find the bus, and the bus dropped us off right in front of the dorms.
After checking into the dorms Zack and I decided to take a walk around campus. This seemed like a great idea, because it was a pretty nice day (it was about 65-70 but it was cloudy) and the campus is beautiful. We soon realized though that neither of us had thought to bring a map, and since there are trees everywhere that make it impossible to see where you are, we ended up lost. We finally made it back to our dorm, and met 2 Australians who offered to drive us to the supermarket. They were extremely nice and helpful, as are all the Australians I have met so far. They gave us many tips on life as a Monash student, including where to catch the bus to Melbourne and where the "cheapest" beer and food is. I say "cheapest" because a case of Bud is $45 and a box of cereal can be up to $7. I guess when minimum wage is $20, the cost of living will also be more.
By the time we got back from the supermarket it was 6:30, and I was exhausted! My RA stopped by my room at 7:30 to ask if I wanted to watch a movie later that night, but I was way too tired. It was a good thing I decided not to go, because when I started reading at 8 I quickly fell asleep and the next thing I knew, it was 7 this morning! (On a side note about my RA, she asked me where I was from, and I said Wisconsin, which is in the center of America, and I'm pretty sure she thinks Wisconsin is a country in Central America. I guess I'll just have to tell people I'm from the US from now on to avoid any further confusion).
That's about all I have to say so far. Today I'm going to explore more of campus, and see what I can find (this time I'll remember a map!)
